Dianna Agron! Not only did Glee take home three awards at the Golden Globes on Sunday, but you voted Agron as your favorite look in our InStyle Best Dressed Poll. (Anne Hathaway took second place.) The actress’s winning look was aJ. Mendel gown, which she paired with a Cathy Waterman diamond necklace. The J. Mendel label is quickly becoming a red-carpet staple—counting Kristen Stewart, Taylor Swift and Demi Moore among its many celebrity fans. However, fun fact: It was first known for its furs. It’s also a family business; the current designer Gilles Mendel is the fifth generation to direct the label. Well, Agron and Mendel certainly made a great pair—another win for the Gleeks!
Finding the perfect dress for theGolden Globes isn’t an easy task. Just ask True Grit‘s Hailee Steinfeld. “I honestly tried on probably a countless amount of dresses,” the 14-year-old actress told us at the Critics’ Choice Awards in Los Angeles, where she wore a peach one-shoulder mini by Marchesa. “The one I picked [for the Globes] was the last dress I tried on. After you’ve tried on a number of dresses, you don’t even want to put on anymore and you’re so upset by the fact that you haven’t found one. Then I put this one on and I fell in love with the way it fit.” The one that stole her heart? A cream gown by Prabal Gurung (shown), which she accessorizedwith Tiffany & Co.jewelry and Salvatore Ferragamo shoes. “Fashion is something I’ve gotten into these past couple months,” Steinfeld told us. “When I see something that I really like, I just go for it.”
Mila Kunisdidn’t pick a dress off the runway or off the rack for her Golden Globes appearance, where she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress. It was all custom. “This dress came as a sketch,” the Black Swan actress told us at the Critics Choice Awards in Los Angeles, where she was dressed in a black Nini Ricci look. “We had tried on other dresses. Then, this sketch came in and we thought the sketch was beautiful. In four days, this person made the dress, and whipped it up!” Kunis’s custom creation turned out to be an emerald green one-shoulder gown by Vera Wang (shown). How speedy Wang was in creating her beautiful look!
Jeremy Renner, who earned a Golden Globes best supporting actor nomination for his role in The Town, is as excited about getting dressed up for the big event as some of our favorite leading ladies. “I have [my Globes outfit] picked out—I’m wearing a nice Prada deal,” the actor told us at the BAFTA Los Angeles Awards Season Tea Party, where he wore a gray pinstripe suit by Dolce & Gabbana for his appearance (shown on the Globes carpet wearing Prada). “I love clothes. I really do enjoy it. I love dressing up.” And we’re not the only ones to notice—a fan of the actor started a blog about his style aptly named Jeremy Renner is a Snappy Dresser.
