Rose McGowan Admires Kate Middleton's Style

Rose McGowan and Kate Middleton have remarkably similar styles, a fact McGowan cherishes. “If it’s good enough for Kate Middleton, it’s good enough for me!” McGowan told us at Entertainment Weekly’s pre-SAG party in Hollywood, where she wore a hot pink Issa gown, a look that Middleton had worn previously in a slightly different cut. And this that wasn’t the first time McGowan and the Princess-to-be shared an Issa look. “I wore [the label’s] bright green gown to the MOCA and then Kate Middleton wore the blue one to announce her engagement to, you know, the Prince.” So why does she love the Kate Middleton-approved label? “Issa really embraces women’s forms,” McGowan told us. But don’t expect McGowan to admit that she and Middleton are exactly the same. “It might be Issa that brought us together,” she said. “But I don’t wear funny hats. And she probably doesn’t wear five-inch heels.”

And of course, we’re getting plenty of scoop on the cold-weather style essentials the stars are loving this year. “I’m always freezing at this festival,” Dominic Cooper told us. Macy’s is getting into the designer collaboration game. Just like you see designer capsule collections pop up at H&M and Target, now Macy’s is launching its own designer lines, kicking off its first February 15th with Kinder Aggugini (inset), an Italian designer who has worked with John Galliano, Donatella Versace and Vivienne Westwood. (FYI: Karl Lagerfeld is also planning a collection for Macy’s later this year!). “When I design, I hear music, very much like a soundtrack in a movie,” Aggugini told us this week at a preview for his Macy’s collection, which ranges from $38 to $298 (dress shown is $78). “I design in my head—I have a full visual imagination of the garment I’m about to make. And this collection is pure rock and roll. That means floral dresses, backless rompers and plenty of Aggugini’s signature polka dots. Click through the gallery for a preview of the collection.

The Fashion Show Winner Is… Jeffrey!

[tiImage width=”300″ height=”450″ url=”http://img2.timeinc.net/instyle/images/2011/wrn/012511-fashion-show-300.jpg” credit=”Mike Coppola/Getty” align=”left” border=”1″ alt=”The Fashion Show”]

The Fashion Show: Ultimate Collection’s season finale aired last night on Bravo with the announcement of a winner—Jeffrey Williams! “To me this designer really deserved to win,” Isaac Mizrahi (right), one of the show’s judges along with supermodel Iman (left, in Chris Benz), told us at a live Martha Stewart Living Radio broadcast at SiriusXM last night. “We saw growth and spirit in this person, and the collection was the best collection. It was a real surprise to us as judges. We didn’t necessarily think that it would turn out the way it did.” Williams (center), a Seattle-born designer who now resides in New York, couldn’t be happier. “I feel like I came off on the show very authentic and true to myself, the season two winner told us. I was very much in a work mode—my goal was to win the competition.” And he did! As for what he plans to do next? “I’m waiting for the show to die down, but I have a million things in the works right now,” he said. “I want to wait and see all of the offers and just keep up that momentum, drive and passion.

Natalie Portman’s Engagement Ring: The Designer Details!

[tiImage width=”340″ height=”450″ url=”http://img2.timeinc.net/instyle/images/2011/wrn/012411-natalie-340.jpg” credit=”Getty Images (2); courtesy Photo ” align=”right” border=”0″ alt=”Natalie Portman Engagement Ring”]

What makes Natalie Portman’s engagement ring so special isn’t just who gave it to her, but also who designed it and how it was made. Jeweler designer Jamie Wolf (inset), whose creations have also adorned Jessica Biel, Julia Roberts and Anne Hathaway, created the custom handmade ring with choreographer Benjamin Millepied, Portman’s now-fiancé. “Ben was exceptionally thoughtful and dedicated and patient to make sure we had everything right,” Wolf told InStyle, who as a former dancer for the New York City Ballet, has been friends with Millepied for over 15 years. (He even encouraged Wolf to audition as a company dancer for Black Swan, and she was cast film!) “We wanted everything about the ring to speak to things that are important to Natalie.” Therefore, in alignment with Portman’s ecofriendly and vegan ideals, the stone is an antique (round old mine cut diamond), the pave diamonds are certified as conflict-free, meaning no one was hurt or treated unfairly in the mining of the diamonds, and the platinum is recycled metal. “It was a lot of fun to work with him, he’s such a great guy and it’s such a great piece of jewelry,” Wolf said. “It speaks to my work and my taste on a personal level. I was really proud of how it turned out. It’s gorgeous.”

It gives so many women the opportunity to own a piece of what I do.” The footwear is our top pick—strappy sandals fit for spring. “The shoes followed the same dance-inspired theme,” she said. “They are made in jersey, and they lace-up, which is a hint of ballet.” The line, priced $59 to $169, hits Macy’s stores February 19th. See Shabayeva’s entire collection for INC in the gallery.

Fairly Legal’s Sarah Shahi Demanded a Good Wardrobe

[tiImage width=”340″ height=”450″ url=”http://img2.timeinc.net/instyle/images/2011/wrn/011911-sarah-340.jpg” credit=”Getty Images; InStyle” align=”right” border=”0″ alt=”Sarah Shahi”]

If there’s one thing Sarah Shahi wanted for her new USA show Fairly Legal, it’s great clothes. “I really demanded that she have an amazing wardrobe,” Shahi told us of her character on the show, Kate Reed, a lawyer-turned-mediator. “When we started filming, I was wearing six-inch heels, but Kate was always running all over the city, so we had to take them down a few inches.” Shahi previously starred on Life, and during her stint on the NBC show, she appeared on the cover of the InStyle Weddings spring 2009 issue (shown). And although she posed in some incredible dresses to show off bridal hairstyles—“It was such a fun shoot!”—Shahi and her husband Steve Howey (who currently stars on Showtime’s Shameless) actually eloped at the Elvis Chapel in Las Vegas. She was four months pregnant with her son Wolf at the time, and yes, an Elvis impersonator officiated (and performed) at the ceremony! Catch Shahi on Fairly Legal when it premieres on USA tomorrow at 10/9c.
