January Jones, the face of Versace this season, chose a red gown with a plunging neckline by the label for her Golden Globes appearance. “I had seen the dress at the runway show in another color and I got it in red,” the Mad Men star said of her look, which featured fringe strands from top to bottom. So what was the original hue for this gown? An eye-popping cyan blue, first spotted at the brand’s spring 2011 runway show (shown).

The Golden Globes Go Green!

Shades of green paraded down the Golden Globes red carpet, making it one of the top trends of the evening. “I feel green looks great on many different people, it truly illuminates who you are,” stylist Estee Stanley—who dressed Mad Men‘s Elisabeth Moss in a hunter green gown by Donna Karan—told InStyle exclusively. “Last year, there were few jewel tones. So this year they came back with a vengeance.” Indeed they did: Catherine Zeta-Jones wore a strapless forest green Monique Lhuillier dress; Mila Kunis chose an emerald one-shoulder Vera Wang look; and Angelina Jolie shined a long-sleeved glittering green Versace gown encrusted with Swarovski crystals. How do you like to wear green? Tell us in the comments!

Golden Globe nominees are finalizing their last dress picks this week before the big show on Sunday, January 16th, and we can’t wait to see what they’re going to wear! That’s why we dreamed up our wish list of gowns we’d love to see hit the red carpet. For example, Best Actress nominee Halle Berry favors body-conscious gowns like this single-shoulder jersey gown from Alberta Ferretti, hence our pick for this Atelier Versace design. Its illusion bodice gives a nod to her peek-a-boo Elie Saab Oscar gown, while the bright white shade complements her caramel complexion. See Natalie Portman, Nicole Kidman, Lea Michele and more in our InStyle Golden Globe Gown Predictions.

Hilary Swank‘s great style may be coming to a store near you. The Oscar-winning actress is working on an activewear clothing line, WWD reports, which means the designs will be as functional as they are fashionable. The sports lover, avid runner and former gymnast is working with DMA Designers Management Agency to create the line, and is currently searching for designers to partner with to develop the collection. Ideally for us, it would come out in 2011, because we’ve got gym-oriented New Year’s resolutions! Plus: Check out the best of Hilary Swank’s 2010 red-carpet style in the gallery.

Fashion photographer Mario Testino shot the 32-year-old Mad Men actress in the nude, sporting only minimal Versace accessories, like heels, a bag and sunglasses. “I am always on the lookout for the next Versace blonde,” Donatella Versace said in a press release. “In January, I feel I have found a perfect Versace woman for the 21st century. She is chic and elegant but deeply sensual too—it is a dramatic combination.” View the gallery to see some of Jones’s most memorable Versace looks.

Versace-Clad Charlize Theron Auctions Off Lakers' Seats for $20,000!

[tiImage width=”250″ height=”400″ url=”http://img2.timeinc.net/instyle/images/2010/wrn/120710-cl-lead-250.jpg” credit=”” align=”left” border=”1″ alt=”Albert Michael/startraksphoto”]

Charlize Theron touched down in New York yesterday to host a benefit for her non-profit, the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project, where she auctioned off a pair of courtside tickets to an L.A. Lakers’ game. Men in the audience reportedly promised to double their bids if the South African actress agreed to go as their date, according to JustJared. She did, and the tickets sold for a cool $20,000. We’re sure her $1,995 Versace dress from the spring 2011 collection helped get the bidding going! Theron, one of the Lakers’ biggest—and most stylish—fans, will most likely keep things more casual for her courtside appearance. Check out some of the actress’s previous courtside fashions in the gallery.
