Catherine Zeta-Joneswalked the carpet at the Golden Globes last night in a strapless emerald textured organza gown by Monique Lhuillier, which featured a side drape and hand-tufted skirt. “I’m just happy to be able to put on a pretty dress,” she told us on the red carpet. “It’s been a while since I’ve had the chance to do that.” Lhuillier first premiered this dress during her pre-fall 2011 presentation last month, and the designer shared an exclusive sketch of the look with InStyle (left)! The actress finished the look withFerragamo sandals and jewelry by Van Cleef & Arpels. See the dress, from sketch to runway to red carpet, in the gallery.
Shades of green paraded down the Golden Globes red carpet, making it one of the top trends of the evening. “I feel green looks great on many different people, it truly illuminates who you are,” stylist Estee Stanley—who dressed Mad Men‘s Elisabeth Moss in a hunter green gown by Donna Karan—told InStyle exclusively. “Last year, there were few jewel tones. So this year they came back with a vengeance.” Indeed they did: Catherine Zeta-Jones wore a strapless forest green Monique Lhuillierdress; Mila Kunis chose an emerald one-shoulder Vera Wang look; and Angelina Jolie shined a long-sleeved glittering green Versacegown encrusted with Swarovski crystals. How do you like to wear green? Tell us in the comments!

Rent the Runway announced it would launch a bridesmaids’ dress rental service this month, and a new flash sale bridal site named The Aisle New York (like a Gilt.com and RueLaLa.com), just launched this week. Already the site offers gowns, veils, shoes and jewelry, including dresses by Lhuillier (dress shown is $2,899, down from $4,840) and Angel Sanchez, plus Oscar de la Renta accessories, and a percentage of each sale goes to charity. Sure you can’t try anything on (though you can make returns for a fee), but it’s definitely a new way to approach saying yes to a dress. Tell us: Would you rent or buy your wedding gown?

Getting a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame is huge. Gwyneth Paltrow is the latest actress to join the exclusive group, which also includes Reese Witherspoon, Cameron Diaz and Kyra Sedgwick, among others. So it’s only fitting that these stylish women would show up to the ceremony in perfect ensembles. Gwyneth opted for a lace Monique Lhuillier dress, Reese wore Dolce & Gabbana polka dots, Cameron chose white lace Oscar de la Renta, and Kyra Sedgwick went with a voluminous orange frock. They all look so ladylike-chic!
