Last month, actress Bryce Dallas Howard announced that she had landed a gig as the face Kate Spade‘s spring campaign, modeling the label’s new season of clothes, handbags and shoes. Now, the label just shared some behind-the-scenes photos from Howard’s shoot exclusively with InStyle! (Fun fact: Howard, the 29-year-old daughter of Ron Howard, starred in Hereafter, The Village, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.) Click through to see Howard modeling—in her first campaign ever!—wearing Kate Spade’s bright, fun spring colors, of course. Plus: Click “More” to see a video of the photo shoot.
Royal couple Kate Middleton and Prince William attended their friend’s wedding on Saturday in England, and the Princess-to-be chose a a black velvet dress by Libélula for the event. She brightened the look with splashes of royal purple on her fold-over clutch and shoes, and we love how the plum pumps featured a bow-tied ribbon detail on the pointed toe. Actress Bryce Dallas Howard landed a modeling job as the face of Kate Spade‘s spring 2011 campaign. Howard, the 29-year-old daughter of Ron Howard who starred in Hereafter, The Village, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, is the first celebrity to star to pose for the label in the brand’s 18-year history (and it’s her first campaign, too). She perfects the playful, colorful aspects of the label in the photographs, posing with a bullhorn while draped in Kate Spade clothes, bracelets, shoes and bags. And what better way to kick off a stylishly organized year than by treating yourself to a new planner. (Yes, these are still available, despite your smartphone/iPad/Outlook!) Our pick: The Smythson Panama Diary, $205, which features a cover illustration by rising Scottish designer Holly Fulton (inset). Fulton, who won the 2009 British Fashion Award for emerging talent, admits she’s addicted to her own planner: “I actually use two planners—one to keep me right and one to keep everyone at the studio right,” she told InStyle.com. “If we lose either of them, it’s chaos!” Fulton uses her personal planner as a date, sketch and address book. “Like having a wallet you love, your diary will be with you every day, so it’s important to get one that stimulates you aesthetically when you see it.” Check out our gallery to find the right 2011 datebook—at the right price—for you.

One of our favorite items from the line are the gemstone-hued Freeform Shape Drop Earrings (shown in amethyst purple, $27; at QVC.com), which Gruss also loves. “If I wear my hair in a ponytail, they are a great statement look,” the designer told us. “And even if I wear my hair down, the purple color is bold enough that it peaks through and adds the perfect pop of color to my outfit.” Check out the gallery to see six other great holiday pieces, all under $100.
