Hairstyles at last night’s SAG Awards ranged from sexy shaken-out waves like Lea Michele to a teased, oversize bun like Jennifer Lawrence. And we got the inside scoop on their looks, thanks to celebrity hairstylist Mark Townsend. “Lea put her dress on, and I immediately saw a very modern ’70s diva,” he told us. “I gave her a big, full blowout with a small round brush for as much volume as possible.” As for Lawrence, he created a look that was young, fun and modern. “I wanted there to be tons of texture inside the bun, but I wanted it to be smooth,” Townsend said.  Click through for exclusive behind-the-scenes photos of the stars preparing for the SAG Awards.

The Glee ladies shined on the SAG Awards red carpet. Most of the cast’s leading ladies chose light colors, like Lea Michele in a sparkly dress by Oscar de la Renta, Heather Morris in a blush chiffon Romona Keveza gown and Jayma Mays in a peach Jenny Packham dress that featured a beaded sleeve. Meanwhile, Amber Riley and Dianna Agron both chose dark hues; Riley in a black Anne Barge mermaid gown and Agron in a navy tea-length Chanel couture look. “I’ve never felt girlier!” said Agron, pictured. What can you expect to see on the red carpet at Sunday’s Golden Globes? “Lots of color,” says Estee Stanley, stylist to Lea Michele (shown right), Jessica Biel and Elisabeth Moss. “It’s the most fun any girl who loves clothes will ever have.” InStyle‘s Fashion Director Hal Rubenstein agrees. “This is going to be a big color season,” he said. He predicts Best Actress nominee Anne Hathaway (shown left) will go for something bright and bold. “Anne loves dramatic fashion,” he said. “She’s not afraid of wearing a big dress, big gown, lots of sparkle, intense color. I think for the Globes what we’re going to see on her is something big and shiny.” Watch Rubenstein’s Award Season Preview video for more predictions after the jump. Continue reading

Golden Globe nominees are finalizing their last dress picks this week before the big show on Sunday, January 16th, and we can’t wait to see what they’re going to wear! That’s why we dreamed up our wish list of gowns we’d love to see hit the red carpet. For example, Best Actress nominee Halle Berry favors body-conscious gowns like this single-shoulder jersey gown from Alberta Ferretti, hence our pick for this Atelier Versace design. Its illusion bodice gives a nod to her peek-a-boo Elie Saab Oscar gown, while the bright white shade complements her caramel complexion. See Natalie Portman, Nicole Kidman, Lea Michele and more in our InStyle Golden Globe Gown Predictions.

The colors were extreme—from Michelle Williams’s platinum pixie to Rihanna’s fire-engine red crop. And the trendsetters weren’t just on the red carpet, they were also on YouTube. (Thank you Willow Smith and Justin Bieber!) Click through our gallery to see all of the best moments in hair from the entire year. You won’t want to miss a strand!

While it’ll be the first time at the Globes for some nominees—Jennifer Lawrence (nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama for Winter’s Bone) and Mila Kunis (Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for Black Swan)—many have been to the Globes before, like Anne Hathaway, Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams and Nicole Kidman, so we can’t wait to see what they will wear to the big event on January 16th. In the meantime, check out their previous Golden Globes gowns in the gallery.

Fergie, who won Billboard’s Woman of the Year award, told E! online it would be a dream come true to guest star on Glee with the Black Eyed Peas. Turns out, the New Directions have already recorded a BEP song, as Lea Michelle, who plays Rachel, revealed: “We’ve been begging [executive producer] Ryan [Murphy] for such a long time to do one of their songs, and we finally just got one!” When she heard Fergie was interested in being on the show, Michelle promised to put in a good word, “Oh my god! I’ll tell Ryan Murphy for sure! I’m going to definitely tell him that she needs to be on the show!” What Black Eye Peas song would you most like to see covered by the Glee cast?
